Make Your Life Simpler Series: With Jackie Of Buggi UK

Our next interview in the Make Your Life Simpler blog series is with Jackie from Buggi UK, the UK's first buggy subscription service.

"If something doesn’t exist, make it happen yourself!"

1. Jackie, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m a part-time GP living in London with my husband Alex, 18 month old daughter Lila, and Cavapoo dog Pablo. I co-founded Buggi in December 2019 after having first hand experience that the current buggy ownership model can be expensive, inflexible and wasteful.

2. What's your favourite parenting hack?

This might only apply if you live in London, but try to walk everywhere! It’s surprising how close most places are when you do. Plus with your pushchair this can be your exercise as well as a chance to give your little one some visual stimulation and both of you a break from the same four walls.

3. How does Buggi make parents lives easier?

We allow parents the flexibility to change buggies as their needs change and families grow, without having to pay large upfront costs or drive miles to unknown territories to collect something which they have no guarantee on quality or hygiene. Hopefully you’ll also sleep better at night knowing you’re a part of the circular economy!

4. What 3 people | movements | organisations inspire you?

To start with, it has to be my friends and colleagues working in the NHS, especially during the pandemic.

Ruth Bader Ginsberg - no explanation needed! don’t get a strong female role model much stronger than this.

Michaela Coel is highly inspirational - using her own experiences, incomparable creativity and fearless attitude produces something incredibly powerful.

5. What are you working on at the moment?

We’re gearing up to apply for external investment so we can grow our company and keep doing what we’re doing. We’re also looking at working with other baby and parenting brands to help build a collaborative and supportive community.

6. Jackie, what’s something about you that Google doesn’t know?

I cook homemade meals for my dog. And I am also a very fast walker.

7. What message would you put on a billboard?

If something doesn’t exist, make it happen yourself!

8. Where can we connect with you?
